My grandmother turned 80 this year and the family got together for a celebration. The birthday child was very happy and we all had a great day.
Place cards, banners, balloons, candle lights, flowers and china were all in blue and green and very coordinated (if I may say so…). This Christmas my grandmother is going to get a scrapbook album made of the same papers that were used for her party. Coordination is very serious business! ;-) She is not online and I trust that my family and friends that see this can keep a secret. (We’ll see how that goes. Luckily this is not the only gift.) I am posting it already now because I feel it is perfect for this week's challenge at Sukkersott – “Make something for someone you love”.
Here are a few pictures of the album:
The paper used in the album is from K&Company and is called “Blue Awning”. The album is 8x8 inches and made from chipboard. It has sixteen pages in total.
Details from the front page. All pages were distressed to give an aged look. The flower on the picture above was colored using Glimmer Mist (brown, green and gold).
The page above shows how we used the same colors for the table setting. It is hard to tell from this picture, but we cut strips of blue paper with a Martha Stewart edge punch and wrapped around the flowers. The place cards said “Welcome” in Norwegian and a left over card is glued onto the page. (Note that the butterfly on the party favor box is on the front cover of the album as well.)
The flower above was cut from Tim Holtz grunge paper, embossed in gold and sanded.
I blurred her on the photos on the blog… She might not like to have her photo online…
Some pages have areas where she can write her own thoughts about the day.
A Norwegian traditional cake: Kransekake. YUM! Muffins at the botton of the page was made with a Martha Stewart punch and stamp set.
This was a fun album to make. The vintage tools are amazing and I liked that I had memorabilia from the party to use. A true scrapbook album.
